- # Evening Janitorial Team Lead - Building One (AbilityOne Program)Apply: Indianapolis, IN: Full time: Posted 4 Days Ago: 2026 - 12298**Position Status:** Full-time**Hours:** 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm**Pay Rate:** $17.70**Location:** 8899 E 56th St, Indianapolis, IN 46216****Job Summary****The Janitorial Team Leader keeps the premises of the office building or other commercial or institutional buildings in a clean and orderly condition while overseeing the work of an assigned team of 4-7 janitors. Organizes the team’s daily tasks which include cleaning office areas, courtrooms, hallways, lobbies, breakrooms/cafeterias, restrooms, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other assigned work areas. Performs daily inspections of the entire work area and corrects any deficiencies. The Janitorial Team Lead communicates effectively with site supervision, the customer, and maintenance. Coaches employees on skills and janitorial tasks.****Example Duties and Activities***** Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.* Cleans and disinfects the furniture and equipment.* Polishes metalwork.* Wipes down walls, ceilings, and woodwork.* Washes windows, door panels, and sills.* Empties wastebaskets and empties and cleans ashtrays.* Transports trash and waste to the disposal area.* Replenishes bathroom supplies.* Communicates with Goodwill management and customers when appropriate and as needed.* Transports small equipment or tools between departments.* Sets up tables and chairs in auditoriums or halls.* Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.* Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.****Required Competencies***** ****Degree and Credential Requirements -**** NONE! Cleans and disinfects bathrooms with cleaning products. Is able to learn how to properly use janitorial tools and equipment including but not limited to dust cloths, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning chemical solutions.* ****Communication Skills -**** Gives full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to recognize the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Reads and comprehends basic written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.* ****Safety Awareness -**** Recognizes the risks in activities, applies the right measures to control and manage those risks, and ensures all safety protocols are followed.****Preferred Competencies***** ****Disability Awareness –**** Has familiarity working with diverse populations including people with developmental and/or physical disabilities to accomplish departmental goals.* ****Floor Cleaning Equipment Expertise** -** Is able to operate and control riding and walk behind scrubbers and other floor care equipment, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, to clean carpets and scrub hard floors.****Other Requirements****Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform essential job functions.* **Moderate to Hard Physical Work** - is regularly required to walk and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Can manage frequent exposure to dust, dirt, debris, and dust particles in the air. Will be regularly exposed to slippery floors and moving mechanical parts of floor cleaning equipment.
