Data Analyst IBusiness Intelligence & Strategy | Hays Electrical Services | Houston, TX | On-SitePosition SummaryThe Data Analyst I is an entry-level position within the Business Intelligence & Strategy department at Hays Electrical Services. This role works across all business functions — Operations, Finance, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Workforce Planning, and Safety — building reports, connecting to data sources, and delivering insights that help teams make better decisions.The Analyst I builds reports independently, connects to enterprise data sources including Databricks, and manages their own assigned workload.The right candidate is detail-oriented, foundationally strong in Power BI and data modeling concepts, and ready to contribute from day one.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards across assigned business unitsConnect to and query data sources including Databricks, and other enterprise systemsHandle incoming reporting requests independently, managing timelines and delivering accurate outputsMaintain existing dashboards, updating data connections, refreshing models, and resolving broken visualsValidate data accuracy before any report is published or distributedFollow established reporting templates, naming conventions, and team standardsData Preparation & QualityPull, clean, and shape data from multiple source systems in preparation for reportingIdentify and flag data quality issues or inconsistencies to the appropriate team memberUse Power Query to transform and prepare data for reporting useFollow documented SOPs for recurring data processes and assist in creating repository documentationStakeholder EngagementGather requirements for assigned reporting requests directly from stakeholdersPresent reports and findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesCommunicate proactively on task status, blockers, and delivery timelinesEscalate complex, multi-layered requests to senior analysts with proper contextTeam Support & DocumentationAssist senior analysts on larger projects as assigned — data prep, validation, and report componentsFollow existing process documentation and flag outdated or missing stepsContribute to team knowledge by documenting recurring processes and report logicMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field0–2 years of professional experience in a data, analytics, or reporting role (internships and co-ops count)Proficient in Power BI, able to connect to data sources, build and maintain data models, and develop reports and dashboards independentlyDemonstrated experience building a report or dashboard that surfaced meaningful KPIs or insights for a stakeholderAble to manage an assigned workload, track multiple requests, and deliver on timeClear communicator across technical and non-technical audiencesFoundational understanding of data modeling conceptsPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with DAX for calculated columns or basic measuresExperience with Databricks or cloud-based data platformsWorking knowledge of SQL for basic querying and data explorationExperience following or referencing SOPs in a data or reporting contextExposure to construction, trades, or project-based industry dataExperience with Vista by Trimble, ProjectSight, or similar ERP/project management platformsTools & SystemsRequired: Power BI, Microsoft Excel, Power QueryA plus: DAX, Databricks, SQL, Power Automate, Vista by Trimble, ProjectSightWhy Join Hays ElectricalWork with real data across every function of a growing electrical contractor from day oneClear growth path into Data Analyst II and Senior Analyst rolesMentorship and collaboration with experienced analysts and systems professionalsWork that directly impacts field operations, project performance, and business decisionsCompetitive salary, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)Career advancement and leadership development opportunities in a growing organization
