Position Overview and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you will play a crucial role within the nursing team, gaining practical experience while delving into the comprehensive responsibilities of a Registered Nurse. Your contributions will ensure the delivery of safe and compassionate care, positively impacting patients' lives, while you build the skills and confidence necessary for more advanced duties as you advance in your nursing education.

Your key responsibilities will encompass:

• Delivering fundamental patient care by assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), monitoring vital signs, facilitating mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Executing nursing procedures such as wound care, catheter management, specimen collection, and other basic tasks as you enhance your skills and competence.
• Accurately documenting care and providing timely updates to the nursing team to ensure seamless and coordinated patient care.
• Assisting patients and their families in understanding care plans and offering support for their health and recovery.
• Maintaining cleanliness and safety in patient areas by adhering to infection control protocols, managing equipment, and keeping an organized environment.
• Promoting your professional growth and improving patient care by participating in learning opportunities, sharing ideas for enhancement, and collaborating with your supervisor or preceptor to develop your personal career advancement plan.

Required Qualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program.
