Job Description Position Title: Adjunct Faculty – Veterinary Health Care Department: STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering & Math Primary Location: Fall River Reports To: Dean of STEM Position Status: MCCC/DCE unit position, non‑benefitted Adjunct Faculty are part‑time instructors hired on an as‑needed basis. Courses may be delivered online, hybrid, or face‑to‑face in Attleboro, Fall River, New Bedford, and/or Taunton. Classes are scheduled during daytime, evenings, and weekends (Friday nights and Saturdays). Starting Date: Academic Year 2025‑2026 Salary: Minimum $1,397 per credit hour. Actual salary is commensurate with the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement. Statement of Duties: Adjunct Faculty will teach and develop curriculum for Veterinary Health Care courses, support students through varied interaction, and contribute to student learning outcomes. Potential courses include Animal Care & Management, Animal Behavior, Veterinary Medical Terminology, Veterinary Pharmacology, Veterinary Office Management, and Zoonosis. The role supports equity through inclusive, anti‑racist pedagogies and multicultural initiatives. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Teach and design Veterinary Health Care course material to meet learning outcomes and promote student participation. Assess student learning and assign grades using equitable and inclusive pedagogies. Contribute to a climate of multicultural empowerment, affirmation, understanding, and appreciation. Create an effective learning environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and problem‑solving using discipline‑specific strategies and High Impact Practices. Employ formative and summative assessments to ensure instruction leads to student learning outcomes. Help students reach academic, personal, and professional goals in a safe environment that respects diversity. Lead in student academic communities, promoting collaboration and teamwork. Participate in professional development addressing technology, academic innovation, and equity goals. Complete required trainings (Title IX, FERPA, Bloodborne Pathogens, Information Security). Adhere to workload as specified in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including book orders, syllabi, enrollment verification, and final grade submission deadlines. Be available to students virtually or in‑person for support. Be willing to teach in Dual Enrollment or Early College programs at surrounding high schools. Foster student success across the college’s diverse student body. Model professionalism and reflect Bristol’s core values in all interactions. Apply Commonwealth equity agenda best practices throughout all job functions. Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Requirements Education and Experience Required Qualifications: Associate degree from an AVMA‑accredited program with current veterinary technician credential, or Bachelor's degree in animal sciences, zoology, zoo and aquarium sciences, veterinary technology, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated college‑level teaching experience or facilitation in corporate or non‑profit settings. Experience with exotics, domestics, agricultural, and/or lab animals. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and other relevant technology. Prior online teaching experience using a Learning Management System. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff. Preferred Qualifications: Specialized practice experience (e.g., animal handling/ restraint, animal nutrition). Experience with High Impact Practices. Teaching experience at a community college. Proficiency with Canvas. Graduate of Bristol’s Adjunct Certificate Program.
