It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.**Description of Work**This Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) serves as a member of assigned homes’ interdisciplinary teams with primary responsibilities of facilitating communication and maximizing swallowing safety for the individuals residing in those homes. Through direct and indirect services, the SLP provides evaluation, direct treatment, program planning, in-service training, and consultation with staff to ensure integration of services and maintains required records and documentation. Overall, the SLP plays an integral role in the Person-Centered Planning process and, through prescribed supports and strategies, serves to maximize individuals’ independence in daily routines and activities.
