About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: NC or Compact License preferred Certifications: BCLS Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Telemetry-remote monitoring experience - Use of Rapid Response Team experience - Interpretation of dysrhythmias - IV insulin protocols - Colostomy care - Feeding tube care and management - Pre/Post Hemodialysis management - Blood product administration - Central line blood draw - Peripheral line care/management - Phlebotomy - PICC line management - Starting IVs - Heparin administration - PCA management - Chest tubes management - CPAP/BiPAP management - High flow nasal cannula usage - Non-invasive airway management - Oral suctioning - Oxygen face mask usage - Isolation precautions - Wound care and management Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly result in a cancellation and DNR. Night shift requires working 36 or 48 hours weekly. Contract staff may be assigned to work a Storm Team or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during catastrophic events or disasters. Floating within or nearby the facility is required. Weekend requirements are approximately 12-16 shifts over the contract period. Typical patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fracture. The unit provides an isolation area for COVID patients and multi-level care, including stepdown. Daily census is approximately 39 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, respiratory services, and social services. The expected patient ratios are 1:5-6. Travelers are expected to participate in hospital classes during orientation. All necessary skills must be well understood and applied in practice.
