You motivate. The most impactful action you can take for a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If this benchmark troubles you, this role is not for you. If it energizes you—because maintaining high standards demonstrates your belief in a student's capacity—continue reading. At Alpha, academic learning occurs through AI-driven applications. No traditional lectures. No printed textbooks. Approximately 60% of your time is spent facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions covering public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. Roughly 30% involves individual or small-group consultations where you analyze Coachbot performance data and guide each student toward their weekly application targets. The remaining 10% consists of reviewing analytics to shape the following week's coaching strategy. You will not follow rigid scripts; workshops provide a foundation, and top performers customize them and create new content when needed. Success in a semester means at least 90% of your cohort achieves weekly app targets, demonstrates quantifiable life-skill improvement on Test2Pass, and rates their experience with you at 4/5 or higher. Falling short on any of these three measures means the role is not being fulfilled. As you demonstrate your ability to maintain standards, advancement becomes possible to Lead Guide—mentoring newer Guides while continuing to run your own cohort—and eventually to Campus Lead, where you oversee an entire school and manage parent engagement. If you prefer conventional teaching methods, expect ready-made curricula, or view warmth and rigor as incompatible, this position will not suit you. If your background includes athletic coaching, camp counseling, tutoring where you refused to let students give up, or performing for middle-school audiences, the final step before receiving an offer is spending a full day on campus coaching actual Alpha students. If that prospect excites you most, submit your application today. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one-hour life-skills sessions for K-8 groups covering public speaking, focus, feedback exchange, and other transferable competencies, customizing the framework and creating new modules when you identify a need Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching that drives every student toward their weekly app targets, leveraging Coachbot data, Alpha's motivational structures (campus currency, performance rankings), and your personal connection with each student to overcome reluctance Overseeing Test2Pass administration (Alpha's competency-based evaluation) for each life skill, and continuing to coach students who fall short until they demonstrate mastery Modifying your approach across a broad age spectrum, from kindergarteners requiring dynamic, movement-based engagement to 8th graders needing candid conversations and clear accountability Analyzing weekly cohort metrics in Coachbot, pinpointing students falling behind, and recalibrating your coaching tactics for the upcoming week based on data insights What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering traditional whiteboard instruction; academic content is embedded in the applications, not your responsibility Creating an entire program structure from scratch; you begin with an established framework and personalize it through your presence and narrative skills Passively monitoring students during computer time; motivation in this context is active, individualized, and persistent Working through administrative approval processes to secure support for struggling students; when a student requires additional coaching, you decide and implement immediately Evaluating assignments, conducting standardized test preparation, or handling parent correspondence; Campus Leads manage parent interactions, and the other tasks do not exist in this model Youth Development Specialist Key Responsibilities Guarantee that every student in your K-8 cohort achieves their weekly learning targets, demonstrates mastery of each life skill, and concludes the year saying they valued you.
