Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team. This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients with varying medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients with conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), respiratory distress, acute coronary syndrome (ACS), A-fib with rapid ventricular response (RVR), diabetes mellitus, and cerebrovascular accidents (CVA).
• Administer blood products and manage patients on BiPAP.
• Monitor and manage post-cardiac catheterization patients, including those with TR bands and femoral sheaths (travelers will not pull sheaths).
• Care for surgical patients with vascular, abdominal, and gastrointestinal conditions.
• Administer intravenous drips, including diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, nitroglycerin, and heparin.
• Utilize chest tubes, wound vacs, and perform dressing changes.
• Monitor femoral arterial sheaths; experience with arterial lines, Impella, and/or IABP is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Must have completed at least 1 travel assignment.
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS.

Work Environment

This role involves floating between ICU level and telemetry units throughout the facility. The hospital has a total of 226 beds, including 11 ICU beds.

Shifts and Rotations

• Shift times: 1900-0730 and 0700-1930.
• Weekend rotation: Required every other weekend.
• Scrub colors: Any professional color.

Unit Description
General Information
Beds: 39 - MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU - mixed unit
Minimal Experience:
2 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel experience is most preferred
If they have 1.5 years of ICU experience EXCLUDING travel, please have CRT send to management team for approval
Will you accept a first-time traveler? No. Minimum one prior travel assignment
Traveler must reside >100 miles outside of facility
Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
Patient Types:
Complex ICU patients ranging from surgical, medical, cardiac (preferred), neuro and trauma
Diagnoses include: ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, s/p cardiac cath, post-surgical, multiple system trauma - heavy trauma population
Cardiac experience is preferred (not required): CABG/TAVR - 24 to 48 hrs post op experience is preferred but not required for travelers
Will not take fresh open hearts unless they are experienced, and the facility felt comfortable with this - given to permanent staff
