This role centers on providing nursing care and treatment to individuals with physical or mental health needs, disabilities, or behavioral challenges. You deliver direct care while helping maintain a safe and organized clinical environment. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties: Care Delivery: Implement nursing care plans by checking vital signs, administering medications, performing treatments, and reinforcing education to ensure quality service Patient Support: Assist individuals with activities of daily living, hygiene, mobility, and restorative techniques to meet basic physical care needs Emergency Response: Provide first aid, CPR, AED intervention, and other urgent care, and refer cases to appropriate clinical professionals Clinical Coordination: Communicate essential information to custody staff, supervisors, and health administrators to maintain safe and steady operations Record Management: Review medical records, prepare reports, and document information in the electronic health system while maintaining controlled substance logs Supply Maintenance: Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and maintain adequate stock in treatment areas If you have the required medical experience and wish to explore a rewarding career that offers the opportunity to share your skills while earning a great salary, apply today! Work Hours and Additional Information Full-time employment, 40-hour work week. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. These shifts include 1st shift (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM), 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), and 3rd shift (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM).Your work schedule is to be determined. Alternative work schedules may be available, depending on operational needs. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. QUALIFICATIONS Necessary Special Requirements This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Other Requirements PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
