Job Summary:
The Surgical Technician / Operating Room Technician position is based in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves assisting with operating room procedures, particularly in obstetric and gynecologic surgeries, including C-sections and postpartum care. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The position offers a dynamic environment supporting surgical and delivery operations within a healthcare facility.

Job Details:

• Required Qualifications: Valid Washington State license; certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST); at least 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience or scrub experience; current CPR/BLS certification; ability to work 8-hour shift with minimum 40 hours per week; scheduled shifts from 0700-1930 or 1900-0730; must be able to set up and break down surgical/vaginal delivery suites, manage surgical equipment, assist physicians during C-sections, and follow sterile techniques.
• Schedule: 8-hour shifts between 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with a minimum of 40 hours per week; schedule made in 6-week increments, released 2 weeks prior. Weekend rotation may be required every other week; on-call duties are not required, but shift flexibility is available.
• Additional Information: The position involves supporting OB patients including c-sections, postpartum, high-risk cases, and rare total hysterectomies. Patient ratios are 1:1 following AWHONN standards. Experience with EMR systems such as EPIC, and familiarity with technology including Alaris infusion pumps, GE Cormetrics monitors, and Panda Warmers, are preferred. Orientation includes 1 day in the Neonatal Enroute Operations (NEO) and 2 days with scrub staff. Support staff may assist with stocking supplies, setting up delivery tables, and transporting patients. Scrub color is assigned by the hospital; parking options include badge-access covered garage or street parking if allowed.
