Location: Remote (Preference for Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; open to Austin, Houston, or Oklahoma City candidates able to travel to DFW for occasional in-person meetings)

Duration: Direct Hire

Salary Range: $200K – $220K Base + Performance-Based Bonus

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly accomplished legal and strategic leader to join a fast-growing financial services organization in a pivotal leadership role. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with executive leadership on sophisticated legal, regulatory, tax, and strategic initiatives that are critical to the organization’s continued growth and long-term success.

The ideal candidate is a licensed attorney with deep expertise in tax advisory, tax controversy, IRS audit response, and complex transaction structures. This individual will serve as a trusted strategic advisor, partnering with leadership, outside counsel, tax professionals, and financial advisors to drive defensible legal strategies, strengthen operational infrastructure, and support high-stakes business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner directly with executive leadership on legal strategy, business initiatives, and organizational growth priorities.
• Lead and coordinate IRS audit responses, tax controversy matters, litigation support, and regulatory initiatives.
• Collaborate with outside counsel, CPAs, RIAs, broker-dealers, and other advisors on complex legal and tax-related matters.
• Develop deep understanding of sophisticated transaction structures and tax positioning strategies.
• Translate highly technical legal and tax concepts into clear business recommendations for leadership stakeholders.
• Support transaction defense strategy and ensure legal defensibility across business operations.
• Build and enhance scalable legal support processes, documentation frameworks, and institutional governance practices.
• Drive operational excellence by improving workflows, legal coordination, and regulatory readiness.
• Serve as a trusted strategic advisor across cross-functional leadership teams.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required; active U.S. attorney license required.
• 5–10+ years of experience in tax advisory, tax controversy, IRS audit response, or related legal/tax strategy roles.
• Strong experience supporting IRS audits, regulatory matters, or litigation-related legal initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience with complex transaction structuring and tax strategy.
• Background within financial services, private equity, investment advisory, wealth management, or related sophisticated financial environments preferred.
• Exceptional executive presence, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to operate independently in a high-trust, high-accountability environment.
• Strong analytical judgment with the ability to manage complex, high-stakes matters with discretion.
