Start your next assignment supporting students and making a meaningful impact in an educational setting near Long Beach, CA. We're seeking a dedicated paraprofessional for a full-time contract position, where you'll work closely with students facing emotional and behavioral challenges, particularly those managing anxiety disorders and emotional distress. Your experience in mental health, along with your CPI training, will be central to fostering a supportive and safe learning environment for all.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar support role
- Strong background supporting individuals with mental health needs, including anxiety disorders and episodes of emotional distress
- Current CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification – required
- Compassionate, patient, and skilled at building trust with students and collaborating with educational staff
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive situations with care and professionalism
Responsibilities and Daily Duties:
- Provide direct support to students in the classroom and throughout the school day
- Assist with the implementation of behavioral and emotional support plans under supervision of special education teachers and mental health professionals
- Monitor student well-being and intervene with de-escalation techniques as needed
- Document observations and maintain consistent communication with related service providers and teaching teams
- Support a positive, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere for all learners
