Registered Nurse - Oncology

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in Oncology provides specialized patient care through administration of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections. They are responsible for clinical procedures, patient education, and maintaining accurate documentation within a fast-paced oncology setting.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and injections according to provider's orders.
• Access and manage port-a-caths, PICC lines, and Hickman catheters for patient treatment.
• Perform venipuncture, dressing changes, lab draws, and monitor patient responses to therapies.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers on medication, side effects, disease management, and treatment expectations.
• Verify informed consent prior to administering treatments and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of treatments, patient responses, and adverse events.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with recent oncology experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Epic EMR and clinical procedures for chemotherapy and injectable therapies.
• Knowledge of hazardous drug handling, disposal procedures, and PPE usage.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to respond to emergency situations promptly.
• Excellent patient education and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain compliance with policies, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
