ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to provide high-quality care in a mixed intensive care unit. This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

Unit: ICU (4th Floor)
Unit Type: Intensive Care Unit
Number of Beds: 24
Patient Ratios:
- 1:1 to 1:2 for ICU level acuity
- 1:3 to 1:4 for PCU level acuity
Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, COPD, Covid, pneumonia, withdrawal, strokes, immediate open heart recovery, and overflow from cath lab, among others.

Shift and Scheduling

Shift Length: 12 hours
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Shift Notes: Day shift from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM; weekend requirements based on unit needs.
Self-Scheduling: Six-week schedule cycles with balanced reviews by management.
Weekend Requirement: High need for weekend shifts, particularly Sundays.
Holiday Requirement: Rotation with permanent staff.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting is required.
Required Certifications:
- Washington State or Compact License
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Preferred Skills:
- CRRN (Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse)
- PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse)
- Management of Swans, Prismaflex CRRT, IABP, and immediate open heart recovery experience.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive patient care, including titration of medications and management of various ICU drips.
Work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Monitor and interpret patient telemetry, with expectations for setting up and managing monitors.
Participate in unit-specific orientation and training, including EPIC modules and hands-on preceptorship.

Additional Information

Team Environment: Candidates should possess a flexible, team-oriented mentality.
Floating Requirements: Potential for floating between critical care units and assisting in emergency situations.
Orientation: Includes EPIC training and an onboarding process with a dedicated preceptor.
