HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

- Performs heavy mobile equipment mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining equipment including, but not limited to, 25,000 (25K) and60,000 (60K) pound capacity aircraft platform loading deck cargo loaders, 50,000 (50K) pound capacity container handlers, bulldozers, power shovels, road graders, mobile cranes, and other types of material handling and construction equipment.
- Performs automotive mechanic work including troubleshooting malfunctions, determining the type and extent of repair required, repairing, and maintaining vehicles including forklifts, tow tractors, truck tractors and trailers, sweeper trucks, wreckers, busses, vans, ambulances, pickup trucks, sedans, and hybrid vehicles.
- Uses diagnostic tools, orders parts, completes documentation, and provides training and assistance to others.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe andclean work environment.

- May be required to work other than normal duty hours. Must meet all certification requirements of the position. Must receive training on the handling and disposition of hazardous materials.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- Incumbent must possess or have the capability to acquire an appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and any required endorsements within 12 months of assignment. This requirement is a condition of employment.
- Employee is required to utilize security and safety practices and procedures at all times. Must wear protective safety equipment and clothing when appropriate.
- Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. This position requires a physical/medical examination. The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
- The employee works in tiring, awkward, or uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. Work is performed on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, and crouching is required. Frequent lifting, handling, and carrying of parts and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds is required.
- Similar effort is exerted in pushing, pulling, and positioning heavy parts, assemblies, and equipment. Use this entry and additional entries as needed Key, Emergency Essential, Mission Essential, and any other required statements as applicable.
