Supervisor, Quality

Reader Precision Solutions is seeking an experienced and technically proficient Quality Supervisor to join our innovative team. This position serves as a critical technical and leadership resource, owning the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialists team, leading the Material Review Board (MRB), and leading all daily quality activities-including monitoring shop flow-to ensure that all components meet the required quality standards and client expectations. Responsibilities include developing and implementing quality control procedures, conducting inspections and tests, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with other departments to resolve quality issues and proactively protect against the repeat of past quality issues. This position also plays a key role in proactively executing key initiatives within the quality management system to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Team Leadership & Daily Operations:
  • Own and directly lead the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialists, including training, workload assignment, and performance management.
  • Lead the Material Review Board (MRB), directing disposition of non-conforming material and driving corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead all daily quality activities and monitor shop flow to ensure inspection and quality tasks keep pace with production.
• Quality Process Leadership:
  • Review APQP quality requirements passed down by the Quality Manager and ensure proper implementation with the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialist(s).
  • Own the execution and management of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection (FAI), and data sheets required per client.
  • Support the Quality Specialist(s) with gage lists and inspection instructions.
  • Help improve quality documentation to improve communication with production, such as Quality Alerts, with the Quality Specialist(s).
  • Own the QMS documents and SOPs that pertain to the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialist(s).
• Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement:
  • Utilize High QA software, working with the Quality Engineer, to analyze quality data and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Drive data-driven decisions to improve manufacturing quality and reduce defects.
• Technical Expertise & Support:
  • Act as a key resource for resolving complex quality issues and advising on inspection changes.
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff on quality processes and equipment.
  • Recommend modifications to production standards and inspection techniques to optimize quality and efficiency.
• Client & Vendor Quality Management:
  • Help aid the Quality Manager with client returns, supplier/vendor CARs, and RMAs.
  • Perform internal audits and ensure compliance with AS9100 standards.
• Other Responsibilities:
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance the quality management system (QMS).
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams for continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist with Quality Manager or Metrology Technician tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred; Associate degree with significant experience will be considered.
• 2-4 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment is required.
• Prior experience leading, training, or supervising quality technicians/specialists, or comparable team-lead experience, preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, Zeiss CMM, Oasis, Keyence, etc., to effectively support and guide the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialist(s).
• Background in CMM, Keyence, and Oasis programming preferred, sufficient to support, guide, and troubleshoot alongside the Quality Technicians and Quality Specialist(s).
• In-depth knowledge of PPAP, FAI, and calibration management processes.
• Sound understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.
• Experience with quality tracking software and statistical tools, preferably High QA.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for high-level equipment and quality issues.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and quick adaptability to new software
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and apply mathematical formulas.
• A collaborative, detail-oriented, and results-driven mindset with a passion for manufacturing excellence.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Work Schedule:


The position is full-time, exempt (salaried), and requires approximately 45 hours per week.

The noise level on the manufacturing floor is moderate, not requiring hearing protection, although it is provided. This role may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday. This role may regularly require the incumbent to sit, talk, or listen; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, fine motor skills, and stand, walk, reach, and/or bend. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
