Mechanical Assembler

Mechanical AssemblerThis role focuses on performing mechanical assembly and maintenance on large generators in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures, and support repair activities. Over time, you will learn manufacturer-specific software to diagnose engine and control system issues, contributing to the reliability and performance of complex power generation equipment.ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical assembly on large generators according to established procedures and quality standards.Utilize a variety of hand and power tools safely and efficiently during assembly and repair tasks.Read, interpret, and follow work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and blueprints or engineering drawings as needed.Conduct maintenance repairs on generators, including disassembly, replacement of components, and reassembly.Operate overhead cranes to move and position heavy components and assemblies in a safe and controlled manner.Use measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches to verify dimensions and torque specifications.Learn and apply manufacturer-specific software to diagnose engine and control system problems.Inspect assembled and repaired units to ensure proper function and adherence to specifications.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with facility guidelines.Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality objectives.Essential SkillsAt least 1+ years of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.At least 1+ years of experience operating overhead cranes for moving and positioning heavy components.Proficiency using hand and power tools for assembly and repair work.Ability to read and interpret SOPs, work instructions, and basic blueprints or engineering drawings.Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures and torque wrenches.Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail when working with complex equipment.Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines in a manufacturing environment.Willingness to learn manufacturer-specific diagnostic software for engines and control systems.Ability to work reliably on a 2nd shift schedule.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, pressure gauges, and measuring tapes.Familiarity with electric meters measuring volts, ohms, and amps.Ability to read and interpret detailed blueprints or engineering drawings.Experience in automotive technician, diesel technician, motor assembly, HVAC, or a similar mechanical trade.Comfort working with torque wrenches and other calibrated tools to meet specified torque values.Why Work Here?Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits program once hired direct, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, company-paid life insurance, disability insurance, and paid family leave. The environment involves frequent use of hand and power tools, overhead cranes, and various measuring and diagnostic instruments, with established safety and quality procedures guiding daily tasks.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cypress, TX.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
