Job Description

The Cleanroom Production Operator runs multiple pieces of automated machinery used in silicon wafer manufacturing within a fast-paced cleanroom environment. This part-time, day-shift role provides flexible support to the production department by performing out-of-cycle tasks such as pad changes, material staging, and general cleaning to maintain production efficiency and support daily operations. The position requires wearing full cleanroom personal protective equipment and following strict safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Run and support multiple automated machines used in silicon wafer manufacturing in a fast-paced cleanroom environment.
• Perform out-of-cycle production support tasks, including pad changes, material staging, and general cleaning activities.
• Remove and replace polishing pads as needed to meet production requirements and maintain equipment performance.
• Move, handle, and stage ceramic plates and related materials throughout the work area to ensure continuous workflow.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and 5S standards for production equipment, workspaces, and the surrounding area.
• Train on and become certified to operate polishing equipment in order to provide coverage during employee breaks, absences, and call-ins.
• Follow all documented training, procedures, and processes to meet quality and cleanroom standards.
• Adhere to established safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Report and take action to prevent or stop variations, errors, or lapses in quality, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.
• Ensure quality issues are reported, corrected, and not repeated by following corrective actions and continuous improvement practices.
• Identify and report suggestions for improvement to supervisors or appropriate leaders to enhance processes and efficiency.
• Move, lift, carry, and transport material boxes filled with polysilicon wafers weighing approximately 10–20 pounds frequently.
• Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally as part of material handling and equipment support duties.
• Operate a wheeled cart to push and pull materials and equipment weighing from 20 pounds up to approximately 200 pounds.
• Operate robotic equipment to lift, unload, raise, lower, and transport materials, products, and other equipment safely.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks on equipment and in the work area to meet cleanroom and 5S standards.
• Use a computer, keyboard, and monitor accurately to enter data, follow work instructions, and access production information.
• Utilize software such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook or similar applications to support production and communication needs.
• Operate basic office equipment such as a calculator and telephone for production-related tasks.
• Communicate effectively with management and coworkers to coordinate work, report issues, and support team objectives.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated and able to work independently when needed.
• Manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and multitask in a busy production environment.
• Support overall production operations as needed to ensure workflow efficiency and meet daily output goals.

Essential Skills

• Prior production experience is preferred, with familiarity working in manufacturing or warehouse environments.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with automated and robotic equipment.
• Ability to move, lift, and carry materials frequently in the 10–20 pound range and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to push and pull carts loaded with materials and equipment weighing up to approximately 200 pounds.
• Proficiency using a computer, keyboard, and monitor for data entry and following work instructions.
• Ability to use basic software applications, such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook or similar tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to following documented procedures and processes.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and quality standards in a cleanroom or semi-cleanroom environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with management and coworkers.
• Ability to work well with others as part of a team and collaborate to support production goals.
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage time well and multitask in a fast-paced setting.
• Self-motivation and ability to work independently when required while maintaining productivity.
• Comfort wearing full personal protective equipment, including cleanroom gown and related gear, throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, cleanroom operations, or quality assurance is highly beneficial.
• Background in machine operation, processing, or production support in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working with 5S standards, cleanliness, and organization in production areas.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain safety and quality assurance practices consistently.
• Team-oriented mindset with a focus on cooperation, reliability, and supporting colleagues.
• Detail-oriented approach to work, ensuring accuracy in material handling, equipment operation, and documentation.

Work Environment

The role is based in a cleanroom and semi-cleanroom production environment that can be fast-paced and, at times, noisy due to traditional shop-type machinery. The cleanroom area is air-conditioned and well ventilated, but wearing a hooded full-body cleanroom gown (bunny suit), hairnet and/or beard net, safety glasses, mouth and nose cover, nylon or nitrile gloves, and a chemical apron throughout the shift can make the work feel warm at times. In the semi-cleanroom areas, the environment can be somewhat dirty and machines are noisy, with a traditional industrial setting. Employees wear company-provided uniforms, safety shoes, and appropriate personal protective equipment. Work is part-time, up to 39 hours per week, on a Monday–Friday day shift, supporting a structured schedule in a production facility focused on safety, quality, and adherence to cleanroom standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $19.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
