Position Purpose

The Outreach Manager is a year-round position responsible for Miniwanca's external-facing communications and marketing efforts, including social media, email and text communications, and website content. This role builds awareness of Miniwanca programs, amplifies program stories, and supports enrollment through consistent, engaging, and brand-aligned messaging across all external channels. Working closely with the Executive Director of Miniwanca and the larger team, the Outreach Manager helps extend the reach and impact of AYF's mission to families, alumni, and the broader community.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Social Media Strategy & Content

• Execute Miniwanca's social media strategy and content calendar across Camps, NLC, CSP, and Open Enrollment programs.

• Create engaging content — photos, video, and written posts — that amplifies program stories and increases audience engagement.

• Monitor social media engagement and analytics, adjusting strategy and content as needed.

Email & Text Communications

• Manage client mass email communications for Camps and NLC.

• Develop and send text/SMS communications to families and participants as needed.

• Ensure all communications are timely, accurate, and consistent with AYF's brand voice.

Website Management

• Update and maintain external-facing pages of AYF's website ( ensuring content is current, accessible, and mission-aligned.

• Coordinate with the Marketing and Communications team on web content strategy and updates.

External Marketing

• Identify and execute marketing opportunities for programs, including print, online, and in-person channels.

• Support digital campaigns and targeted outreach to build awareness and drive enrollment.

• Uphold brand consistency and quality across all external communications and marketing materials.

• Represent Miniwanca at events, fairs, or in the community as needed to support marketing and awareness goals.

Community and School Programs (CSP) Outreach

• Support outreach and marketing efforts for Community and School Programs, including promotional materials for prospective and partner schools.

• Partner with the CSP team to promote program offerings to school and community organization partners.

• Maintain CSP-related content across social media, email, and website channels, ensuring consistency with overall program messaging.

Team Collaboration

• Implement AYF's communications strategy in partnership with the Marketing and Communications team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

• Work closely with the Executive Director of Miniwanca, Marketing and Communications team, and program directors to align messaging with program capacity and organizational priorities.

• Contribute to a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement across the site and organization.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication abilities; adept at storytelling and tailoring messages to multiple audiences.

• Experience with communications tools including print production, web content management, and social media platforms.

• Strong relationship-building and customer service skills; able to connect authentically with diverse families, alumni, and partners.

• Marketing and outreach skills, including digital campaigns and content creation.

• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

• Self-motivated, energetic, service-oriented team player who takes initiative on assigned tasks.

• Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and AYF's mission of inspiring youth to discover and develop their best self.

Preferred Experience, Education, and Certification

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (communications, marketing, journalism, or equivalent experience).

• 2+ years of experience in social media, communications, or marketing, ideally with a nonprofit or youth-serving organization.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Work Environment

• The Outreach Manager position is based at Miniwanca in Shelby, Michigan. While in-person presence is preferred, we are open to a hybrid remote role. During the school year, the Manager may work remotely with travel to site throughout the year. Full-time residence on site is required for approximately ten weeks each summer (June–August), including staff training and the camp sessions.

• Seasonal rhythms of work will include intensive summer program involvement and flexible fall/winter/spring planning periods.

• Some evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities required during program seasons.

• Business casual, appropriate attire for setting.

Compensation

• Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000
