Senior Electrical Engineer

Firestone Airide specializes in air spring manufacturing and technology with a history of more than 80 years of research and development on technologically advanced air springs for the global marketplace. Firestone engineers air springs and related products for commercial trucks and trailers, cars, sports utility vehicles, light trucks, mini vans, motor homes, buses, agricultural equipment, rail and industrial applications. Position Summary We are seeking an Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Williamsburg, Kentucky plant. This facility produces Air Springs for the automotive and heavy vehicle industries. In this role, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will research, develop, design, test, and implement/install electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Responsibilities Responsible for Safety Design Process: Conduct risk assessment, risk mitigation, dynamic safety testing, and validation of safety systems. Contractor oversight of technical trades: Ensure quality of workmanship and adherence to plant/industry safety rules and compliance. Project management: Design and develop project scope, budget, justification/feasibility, funds request, and project documents; procure RFQs, SAP ordering, and budget tracking; oversee installation, testing, equipment release to production, and verification of project closing (documentation for maintenance, stock item request, lessons learned); plan labor resources and schedule milestones to ensure delivery within technical scope, budget, and schedule. Work with cross‑functional teams to understand scope, functional specifications, and design requirements; develop hardware assembly and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems; develop control system software in PLC ladder logic, function block, HMI programming, etc.; create interfaces to plant equipment using hardwired interfaces and industrial networks; develop bill of materials for scope of supply, and work with vendors to acquire components. Resolve problems relating to electrical or controls systems in collaboration with maintenance, production, and process engineering; estimate system design, material, installation, checkout, commissioning, and activation of projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience (or equivalent work experience); an advanced degree is acceptable even without experience. Experience with PLC programming (Allen Bradley or Modicon). Full‑cycle project management experience from cradle to grave. Preferred Qualifications PMP certification. Knowledge or experience with 480‑volt 3‑phase systems. Experience with Fanuc, Motoman, Panasonic, or other robot platforms.
