Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of all terminal equipment including, pumps, valves, engines, tank mixers, etc.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures service and reliability of equipment and facilities.
• Identify any issues with operating equipment, including, but not limited to; pumps, valves, motors, tanks, pipes, terminal building, etc.
• Performs integrity inspections and pressure tests on terminal pipelines, hoses, heat transfer equipment, and piping.
• Perform and follow predictive and preventative procedures to ensure service and reliability of equipment.
• Minor maintenance of company vehicles.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and follow detailed repair drawings related to installing and rebuilding process equipment.
• Operate forklifts, rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts.
• Install bearings, align gears and shafts, install motors, couplings and drive belts, following standard best practices.
• Precisely align equipment using laser alignment tools.
• Fabricate and install welded and threaded piping.
• Exhibit a strong working knowledge of centrifugal and positive displacement pumps.
• Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Small scale fabrication using a cutting-torch and welder.
• Make weld repairs for pipe leaks on steam, condensate, air and water piping.
• Other duties as assigned.
• This position is subject to DOT D&A Testing Requirements

Position Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Working knowledge of steam boilers, hot oil heaters, loading racks, product blenders and automation systems.
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office experience and experience with terminal automation software - such as Toptech - is preferred.
• Ability to work outside for long periods of time in any weather condition.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience/Education:

• High school diploma / GED is required.
• Trade or Vocational Program completion preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in field is preferred. 5+ years maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential Card (TWIC).

• Must be able to climb heights in excess of 60’, ascend stairs or ladders, work atop tanks, and traverse metal walkways at heights.
• May work in confined or restricting work spaces (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels).
• Normal dexterity of hands and fingers.
• Normal coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot.
• Normal endurance.
• Normal concentration/intensity, which includes prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity for breaks.
• Normal memory, taking into consideration the amount and type of information.
• Normal complexity of decision making.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Work requires physical efforts associated with using the computer and phones to access information.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is:

• Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and temperature extremes, cramped spaces, loud noises, chemicals and fumes, dust, heights or work safety hazards.
• Regularly exposed to work in high, precarious places.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools and small to medium-sized power tool use.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

This position is required to be performed at the work site during regularly scheduled hours. Physical presence at the work site is required.
