Post Doctoral Researcher

We seek a talented postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team at Boston University developing a soft robotic platform for minimally invasive cardiac interventions. The project involves close collaboration with leading cardiac surgeons and interventionalists at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Brigham and Women's Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing image-guided robotic control algorithms that integrate real-time 3D echocardiography, fluoroscopy, and magnetic localization for closed-loop robot navigation during cardiac procedures. You will develop the robotic-imaging pipeline, create software architecture to fuse medical imaging modalities with robotic state estimation and kinematic models, and support validation studies with clinician collaborators to optimize workflow for procedural efficacy and safety metrics. We are looking for candidates with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise integrating medical imaging with robotic systems, including experience with ultrasound-guided robotics, image-based control, or similar applications. Highly desirable qualifications include knowledge of soft robotics or continuum manipulators, experience with cardiac imaging modalities, and a track record of peer-reviewed publications in medical robotics.
