Job Summary

Join the dedicated team at the Cecile J. Coulomb Emergency Center in Lewiston, Maine, as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. This vital role is responsible for delivering comprehensive direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process within a dynamic emergency setting that includes a specialized Chest Pain Center.

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will play a crucial role in assessing patients upon admission and throughout their stay, administering essential IV medications, therapies, and blood products, and providing critical patient education. This position requires meticulous documentation of all nursing care actions, patient teaching, observations, and responses to ensure high-quality, coordinated patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process across all areas of the Emergency Department.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and continuously monitor patient status throughout their emergency stay.
• Administer IV medications, therapies, and blood products accurately and safely as prescribed.
• Provide comprehensive patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document all aspects of nursing care, including assessments, interventions, patient teaching, observations, and responses to treatment.
• Demonstrate willingness and ability to assume Charge Nurse and Preceptor responsibilities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Emergency Department setting.
• Must not have been a previous employee of St. Mary's.
