5 South: Stroke ACE Med/Surg is a 34 inpatient acute care Med/Surg unit caring for a wide variety of diagnosis including Stroke, Seizures, Neuro focus, Diabetes, Electrolyte imbalance, Kidney Disease, Mental Health, Dementia, Alzheimers. This is an excellent unit to build a neurological focus, foundational skills, become certified in the specialty of Med/Surg and develop specialized skills applicable to any area in nursing.

What you will do:

  Build foundational skills and knowledge through Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.
  
  

  
  



• 
  
  

  
  Build skills in time management, triaging accountabilities, communication skills, pharmacology, lab interpretation, pathophysiology of disease process through a variety of med/surg patients with acute and chronic conditions.
  
  

  
  



• 
  
  

  
  Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  
  

  
  



• 
  
  

  
  Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.
  
  

  
  



• 
  
  

  
  Provide continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.
