Clinical Research Nurse (General RN) – NIH Clinical Center The NIH Clinical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract as a Clinical Research Nurse. This is a unique opportunity to provide direct patient care while supporting groundbreaking clinical trials at the nation’s premier clinical research hospital. Schedule 13-week contract with high potential for extension Full-time: 40 hours per week Night shift Combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts Location: NIH Clinical Center Bethesda Maryland 20892 What We’re Looking For Active, unrestricted RN license Current BLS certification Minimum 2 years of current Med/Surg nursing experience BSN preferred Clinical research, clinical trial, or protocol management experience preferred Strong clinical documentation, communication, and computer skills What You’ll Do Provide comprehensive nursing care to inpatient and outpatient patients participating in clinical research protocols. Perform assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and investigational agents according to protocol. Manage specialized equipment, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, central lines, and drainage systems. Monitor patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately to urgent or emergent situations. Review and follow research protocols to ensure study procedures and patient care requirements are met. Collect and document research data, biological specimens, pharmacokinetic samples, medication administration times, adverse events, and protocol variances. Maintain accurate electronic health records while following Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA, and patient safety requirements. Collaborate with physicians, principal investigators, scientists, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. Educate patients and families regarding study procedures, treatment plans, risks, and patient rights. Advocate for research participants and provide compassionate support throughout the clinical research process. Why Join This Opportunity?
