Rhino Medical is leading the charge in seeking an experienced, Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician (MD/DO) for a locum tenens opportunity in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts, on Martha's Vineyard . This assignment offers consistent overnight coverage in a Critical Access Hospital Emergency Department, combining broad-spectrum emergency medicine with the distinctive clinical environment of an island community.

Physicians will provide emergency care to adult and pediatric patients in a 25-bed hospital with approximately 13,000 annual Emergency Department visits . The assignment features 7:00 PM–7:00 AM shifts, 10–13 shifts per month , and an estimated patient pace of 2.5–3 patients per hour. Candidates should be comfortable independently evaluating, stabilizing, and managing a wide range of emergency presentations in a smaller hospital setting.

Emergency Department Practice

This opportunity involves comprehensive emergency medicine within a Critical Access Hospital serving both year-round residents and visitors to Martha's Vineyard.

• Evaluate and treat acute illnesses, injuries, and emergent medical conditions.
• Provide emergency care for adult and pediatric patients.
• Assess and stabilize critically ill or injured patients.
• Manage cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, gastrointestinal, infectious, and traumatic presentations.
• Perform emergency resuscitation and airway management as clinically indicated.
• Conduct appropriate emergency procedures within the physician's training and clinical competencies.
• Order and interpret laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, and other emergency evaluations.
• Coordinate consultations, hospital admissions, patient transfers, and discharge decisions.
• Communicate effectively with emergency nursing staff and other members of the hospital care team.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation using Epic.

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Board Certification in Emergency Medicine required.
• Internal Medicine and Family Medicine board certification are not accepted as substitutes.
• Active, unrestricted Massachusetts medical license.
• Active DEA registration appropriate for practice in Massachusetts.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Minimum one year of Emergency Medicine experience.
• Experience evaluating and managing both adult and pediatric emergency presentations.
• Strong emergency stabilization, resuscitation, and clinical decision-making skills.
• Ability to practice effectively within a Critical Access Hospital environment.
• Availability for 10–13 overnight shifts per month.
