Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Cardiac Progressive Care)

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Weekend rotation and holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in a 30-bed private-room Cardiac Medical Progressive Care unit operating 24/7, with rooms remotely monitored by a Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department
• Manage a primary cardiac patient population including Congestive Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome, arrhythmias, pre- and post-cardiac catheterization (with and without intervention), rule-out myocardial infarction, syncope, and pacemaker placement
• Support a secondary respiratory patient population including COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP-dependent patients
• Perform and manage telemetry monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, peripheral and PICC line care, procedural sedation administration, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, chest tube management (Emerson, Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy management
• Participate in a self-assisted scheduling system across 6-week scheduling periods, with assignments distributed based on departmental need, patient work intensity, skill mix, and previous assignments
• Collaborate with Nurse Assistants (available 24/7) and RN Secretary (7:00 AM – 11:00 PM); utilize Rapid Response Teams as appropriate

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license — must be in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiac PCU/Progressive Care experience required; must be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios (1:4 with drips/BiPAP)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (2 attempts allowed) — required for all RNs regardless of specialty
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; current driver's license required to verify address

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Experience utilizing Rapid Response Teams
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
