REEP Corp - Multifamily Property AccountantREEP Residential San Antonio, TexasFull-Time | Salary | In-OfficePosition Overview:The Property Accountant is responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily communities and related ownership entities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, supports month-end close processes, and provides financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making.The Property Accountant works closely with asset management, property management, and leadership teams to maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal financial controls across multiple entities.-Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial ReportingPrepare and review monthly financial statements for assigned multifamily properties and ownership entitiesEnsure financial statements are accurate, timely, and compliant with company reporting standardsAnalyze income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedulesPerform variance analysis and provide explanations for fluctuations in revenue and expensesPrepare financial reporting packages for leadership and ownership groups-General Ledger & Month-End CloseRecord and post journal entries including accruals, adjustments, and reclassificationsPerform bank and balance sheet reconciliationsReconcile subledgers to the general ledgerEnsure timely completion of month-end close for multiple entities and propertiesMaintain supporting schedules and documentation for all financial transactions-Multi-Entity AccountingMaintain accurate accounting records across multiple ownership entities and property portfoliosAllocate expenses and shared costs appropriately across properties and entitiesAssist with intercompany transactions and reconciliationsEnsure proper entity-level financial reporting and documentation-Budgeting & Forecasting SupportAssist with annual property budget preparationMonitor budget-to-actual performance and identify financial trendsSupport forecasting and financial planning activitiesProvide financial analysis to assist property and asset management teams with operational decisions-Compliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policiesMaintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and expense approvalsSupport external audits, lender reporting, and ownership reporting requirementsMaintain documentation for financial records and transactions-Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with property management teams to ensure accurate financial reportingProvide guidance on expense coding, financial processes, and budget adherenceSupport leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests-Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve accounting efficiency and reporting accuracyParticipate in accounting system enhancements and workflow improvementsAssist in implementing best practices across accounting and reporting functions-Reporting StructureReports to: Director of Finance / ControllerThis role collaborates closely with Accounting, Asset Management, and Property Operations teams.Employment with REEP Residential is at-will. Management reserves the right to modify responsibilities as needed.Core Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in multifamily property management or real estateExperience managing financial reporting for multiple entities or property portfoliosStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting practicesExperience with property management and accounting platforms such as ResMan, AvidXchange (Avid), Yardi, AppFolio, or similar systems preferredStrong proficiency in Microsoft ExcelHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines-Work Environment:This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, calculators, and financial software systems.-Physical Requirements:This position is primarily sedentary and performed in a professional office environment.
