Laboratory Technician

Job Summary

Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision. Reports to a Laboratory Supervisor. Responsibilities include receipt, accessioning, centrifugation and decanting of patient specimens, and communicating with clinicians at the Front Window and over the phone.

Essential Functions

- Assist with labeling, preservation and fixation of specimens. - Work closely with technologists to ensure specimens are processed timely and accurately. - Monitor reagent and supply inventory. - Organize patient specimen and assay worksheets/printouts for testing and technologist review. - Use LIMS to upload documents and input critical data or comments. - Clean and maintain lab equipment. - Rotate chemicals in all stainers and processors - Stock lab supplies and track inventory - Other lab related duties as needed

Qualifications

Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Previous laboratory, healthcare and/or customer service experience 1-2 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Good interpersonal and communication skills so as to be able to interact effectively with individuals in the lab and the hospital. - Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress of time constraints and heavy workload demands. - Demonstrates excellent dependability, reliability, accuracy, prioritization ability, problem solving skills, customer service and teamwork.
