Summary Energy Transfer is looking for a Director of Upstream Accounting to join our Upstream Crude Accounting team at 8026 Park Ln, Dallas, TX office. This position will lead and manage Energy Transfer's Upstream accounting team, which is responsible for providing a full suite of accounting services to Energy Transfer producing customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: Lead and manage the upstream accounting team, including revenue, joint interest, production, and fixed asset/AFE accounting functions. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes specific to upstream operations, ensuring accurate recognition of oil, gas, and NGL revenues, production volumes, and related costs. Direct joint interest billing (JIB) processes, including partner billing, cash calls, settlements, and audit support for operated and non-operated properties. Ensure proper accounting for exploration and development costs, including successful efforts application, AFE tracking, capitalization, and impairment testing Support internal and external audits, including joint venture audits, and respond to partner and regulatory inquiries Provide financial analysis and reporting on lease operating expenses (LOE), capital expenditures, well economics, and property performance Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls tailored to upstream operations Key Attributes Build and maintain collaborative relationships across departments, serving as a trusted leader and advocate for direct reports and accounting teams Proactively leads initiatives, resolves complex issues, and mitigates risks with minimal oversight, ensuring team efficiency and operational success Aligns team goals with leadership's vision by setting clear expectations, communicating strategic direction, and driving cross-functional alignment Champions a culture of inclusion, transparency, and continuous improvement by fostering open communication and valuing diverse perspectives Invests in team development through structured career planning, coaching, and mentorship while recognizing contributions and encouraging growth Identifies process and efficiency improvements, leveraging technology and innovation to support long-term department success Demonstrates integrity and accountability by modeling clear, unbiased communication, honoring commitments, and holding the team to high-performance standards Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant time in upstream oil and gas (exploration & production) accounting Deep knowledge of upstream accounting practices, including revenue recognition, joint interest accounting, production accounting, AFEs, and DD&A Proficiency with SAP, JVA, and PRA preferred Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Usually, normal office working conditions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
