Job Description Job Description Rimtec Corporation is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Mechanic “A” to join our union workforce at our PVC manufacturing facility in Burlington, New Jersey. This role installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots industrial electrical equipment, control circuits, and instrumentation that is currently in service or planned for installation. The position also assists other mechanics with daily work to support continuous plant operations. The successful candidate will help maintain safe, efficient, and quality-driven production while complying with the collective bargaining agreement, safety requirements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Shift Information Third Shift: 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. (Electrical Maintenance Mechanic “A”) Shift Differentials: $1.30/hour for second shift. $1.45/hour for third shift. Compensation Hourly Rate Range: $27.00 – $37.34 per hour, based on position and qualification level. Salaries Job Classification Hire Rate Qualified Rate 12 Month Rate 24 Month Rate Mechanic “A” Electrical $27.00/hr. $35.82/hr. $35.82/hr. $37.34/hr. Overtime Time and one-half for all hours worked over 40 per week. Double time for work exceeding 12 hours in a 24-hour period. Key Job Responsibilities • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment during overnight operations. • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, PIDs, and mechanical drawings. • Troubleshoot and repair motor control systems, including relays, contactors, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). • Apply advanced knowledge of common electrical circuits to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. • Install, wire, and test control panels and electrical components in accordance with NEC and local codes. • Diagnose mechanical issues involving bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatics. • Support basic automation tasks, including troubleshooting sensors, limit switches, and PLC I/O, and adjusting drive parameters. • Fabricate or repair parts as needed using shop equipment, including lathes, mills, and welding equipment. • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize overnight production downtime. • Modify equipment and assist with new equipment installations. • Document repairs, maintain accurate maintenance logs, and communicate open issues to the day shift. • Follow all lockout/tagout (LOTO), safety, and OSHA procedures. Education/Background/Qualifications Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. An associate degree in electrical or mechanical technology, industrial maintenance, or mechatronics—or trade-school certification as an electronics technician—is preferred. • Three or more years of experience as an electrical, mechanical, or maintenance technician in an industrial or manufacturing environment. • Experience operating lathes and mills is preferred. • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and HMIs, along with 480-volt, three-phase systems. • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams and use them to diagnose motor control circuits and basic automation components. • Working knowledge of relays, contactors, motor starters, and VFDs. • Basic understanding of automation and control systems; familiarity with PLCs is a plus. • Proficiency with multimeters, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during night hours. • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, and remain on your feet for extended periods. Required Skills and Abilities Self-motivated, dependable, and safety-focused. Proficiency with electrical systems and machinery used on active manufacturing production lines. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to diagnose electrical faults and component failures systematically. Basic math skills and the ability to complete documentation accurately. Welding, fabrication, and machining skills. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with plant team members and contractors, explain technical issues clearly, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a union environment. Ability to follow strict safety protocols when installing, maintaining, and repairing systems. Prior shift and/or on-call maintenance experience preferred. Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to climb ladders. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach frequently. Ability to read production documentation, scales, and charts. Ability to record information legibly and accurately.
