Mechanical Engineer I

Job Summary

Provides knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and procedures. Applies mechanical engineering principles and concepts and is able to draw solutions from both formal training and experience. Works with Engineering and other functional areas to obtain optimum resource utilization.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Responsible for mechanical design, test and analysis of work product, systems or processes.
• Support designs with analysis and calculations including tolerancing, stress, mechanics and dynamics.
• Recommend enhancements, and cost reductions, initiate ECN's and formulate cost impacts.
• Create design of die-cast, injection molded, and stamped parts.
• Design mechanisms, assemblies, hermetically sealed containers, and electronics packaging
• Create ASME Yl4 compliant 2D and 3D mechanical CAD drawings of components, subassemblies and systems.
• Provide root cause analysis for mechanical engineering design issues.
• Keep accurate and complete records of engineering activities.
• Provides training and/or direction to technicians when needed.
• Provides input to bid and proposal activities.
• Provides communications and/or presentations to customers, suppliers or vendors.

Education, Experience, Licenses and Certifications

• 4-year degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
• A minimum of 1 year of working experience.
• Experience in generating design documentation.

Skills and Abilities

• Must be able to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance.
• Must be familiar with 3D modeling software.
• Excellent communication verbal and written communication skills.
• Must show initiative, motivation and have the ability to act independently to resolve technical issues.
• Must be proficient with MS Office Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
• Must have the desire and ability to travel for participation in field testing.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, talk, and communicate, use hands/finger, feel, and reach with arms. This position requires the ability to lift, bend or stoop as necessary up to 20lbs.
