Position: Director of Operations Overview The Company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Operations to lead the service and repair operations. Reporting to the General Manager, this senior role will collaborate closely with the Office Manager and Yard Manager to ensure seamless operations, exceptional quality, and a thriving team. The ideal candidate is a seasoned service manager with a proven track record in the marine industry, ready to drive efficiency, mentor talent, and provide outstanding service to our clients. Key Responsibilities Project Management: Quote, estimate, and allocate manpower for incoming maintenance and repair projects on 30-50’ sailboats and powerboats. Track repairs to ensure timely completion within budget, maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams. Quality Control: Oversee all service and repair work to ensure it meets the Company’s rigorous standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational excellence. Team Leadership: Hire, train, mentor, and develop service technicians, fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and craftsmanship. Collaboration: Work as a team player, providing regular updates to the General Manager and partnering laterally with the Office Manager and Yard Manager to align operations with company goals. Operational Excellence: Leverage our five heated work buildings and paint facility to optimize workflows, enhance efficiency, and support the company’s expansion initiatives. Qualifications Extensive experience as a senior service manager in a boatyard or marine service environment, with expertise in servicing 30-50’ sailboats and powerboats. Proven ability to quote, estimate, and manage manpower for complex repair and maintenance projects. Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Demonstrated experience in quality control, ensuring high standards in marine repair and servicing. Leadership experience in hiring, training, mentoring, and developing service technicians. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and provide regular updates to senior leadership. Passion for the marine industry and a commitment to fostering a positive, team‑oriented culture. Willingness to relocate to the Rockland, Maine area (relocation assistance provided).
