University of Maine

The University of Maine System is seeking a Director of Campus Technology to provide strategic and operational leadership for technology services at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. This position serves as the primary connection between campus leadership and UMS IT, translating campus goals into practical technology strategies, services, and resources. The Director will lead campus technology initiatives, oversee campus-based IT staff, strengthen service delivery, and coordinate the campus response to significant technical incidents and disruptions. The successful candidate will be a collaborative leader who can build trusted relationships, balance competing priorities, and connect the distinct needs of the campus with System wide IT strategy and capabilities. This is an office-based position that may require travel to other University locations or work sites. The Director may occasionally work evenings and weekends to support campus events, significant service disruptions, and other campus needs. What You Will Do Build and sustain strong relationships with campus leadership, faculty, staff, students, and UMS IT partners to promote strategic alignment and responsive technology services. Consult with campus leaders and administrative personnel to identify current and emerging technology needs, evaluate options, recommend improvements, and coordinate solutions. Lead, coach, and support campus IT staff, including performance management, employee development, training, and appropriate corrective or disciplinary processes. Manage stakeholder expectations, identify gaps between campus needs and available IT capabilities, and collaborate across UMS IT to develop effective solutions. Provide campus and IT leadership with executive level reports and key performance indicators related to Tier 2 support and customer service. Coordinate campus response to significant technical incidents and service disruptions, including communication with campus and System stakeholders. Participate in UMS IT leadership activities, campus committees, and the UMS IT Service Desk Council to advance shared priorities and service improvements. Develop budget requests, monitor designated technology budgets, and represent UMS IT with relevant external groups, partners, and service providers. Maintain compliance with University and UMS IT standards, policies, and procedures while remaining current on technology solutions and service management practices. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and conflict management skills, including the ability to explain complex information to varied audiences. A collaborative and transparent leadership approach, strong customer service orientation, and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Preferred Qualifications Experience providing technology leadership and services in higher education, including support for faculty, researchers, staff, and students.
