Job Title Research Scientist - Computed Tomography (Orange, OH) As an important member of the Computed Tomography (CT) Imaging Physics and Algorithm team, the Research Scientist will develop innovative physics‑based solutions/corrections and support medical imaging platform needs by leading image quality improvements in CT by developing cutting‑edge Photon Counting systems. Your role: Apply system‑level engineering approach to develop CT/X‑ray imaging features, focusing on signal and image processing, CT reconstruction, and calibration to optimize image quality. Leverage strong systems‑level and scanner experience to ensure end‑to‑end performance across the imaging chain. Investigate and resolve image quality issues during product introduction and from the installed base, communicating findings clearly to stakeholders. Deliver safe, effective, and well‑documented solutions based on rigorous data analysis. Develop and enhance R&D tools for physics‑based simulation and image formation, including benchmarks, dataflow requirements, and Software Requirement Specifications. Work primarily in MATLAB, with increasing use of Python and optional C++ for performance‑critical components. Maintain deep expertise in CT physics and advanced processing algorithms, with strong emphasis on photon‑counting CT as a top priority. Bring additional knowledge in spectral, dual‑energy, and multi‑energy CT, as well as cone beam CT, enabling improved material differentiation and image quality optimization. Drive innovation by owning the CT imaging physics roadmap and aligning with business strategy across clinical, marketing, and systems teams.
