This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence.Job Title: Electrical EngineerHDR is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Charlotte or Raleigh. Our team is looking for a candidate to meet the needs of our diverse client base including Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Science and Technology, Federal, Industrial, Mission Critical and Commercial clients. We have a team with diverse experience and are actively seeking candidates with experience within one or more of the markets we serve. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger electrical engineers. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading a team and designing projects from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, marketing staff, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and performing RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation and overall construction administration. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. On a day-to-day basis, the Electrical Engineer will also be expected to:Provide detailed designs and coordination of facilities with team membersPrepare construction documents with BIM/CADD platformsEdit and prepare design specificationsReview fee estimates, cost opinions, and write technical documentsPerform QA/QC review of construction documents and technical reportsSelect equipment using vendor software and communicate with sales repsTrack and meet design budgetsPerform load calculationsAttend and lead design meetings with other team membersProvide construction administration service throughout all phases of constructionPreferred QualificationsExperience with designing lighting and electrical systems for various types of buildings including one or more of the following: healthcare, laboratory facilities, federal, water/wastewater, utility, mission critical, and commercial office facilitiesStrong communication skills, self-motivated and organizedWork both independently and with a project teamSome travel will be requiredBIM/Revit experience is highly preferredExperience in sustainable design/LEEDLocal candidates are preferred*LI-SM1Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasisPrevious experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
