Business Loan Credit Analyst Intern

If selected for the internship, you must be able to commit to the full 12 months and be enrolled at a university throughout the length of the internship. What You’ll Do:

The Business Loan Credit Analyst Intern provides support to the Credit and Business Loan Departments while gaining practical experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, financial statement review, and risk assessment. This position assists with a variety of analytical, administrative, and lending support functions, including reviewing borrower financial monitoring submissions for accuracy and completeness, spreading financial statements, and other special projects as assigned. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, the intern develops an understanding of commercial lending principles, financial analysis, credit risk management, and Royal Credit Union's lending philosophy, processes, and practices.

Our Commitment To You:

• Compensation: $17.85-19.98 per hour(candidates with significant related experience may be higher)

Intern Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Assist with credit analysis, underwriting, and portfolio monitoring by reviewing borrower financial information, loan applications, tax returns, bank statements, and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy
• Complete financial statement spreading, cash flow analysis, covenant testing, and related financial reviews
• Research borrowers, industries, market trends, and peer performance to support underwriting and risk assessment
• Prepare and organize credit presentations, annual reviews, renewals, loan reviews, third-party reports, and other underwriting documentation while ensuring information is accurate, consistent, confidential, and aligned with department standards

What’s Needed For This Position:

• Enrolled at a University or Technical College throughout the length of the internship, pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Business, Banking, or a related field of study.

• Interest in commercial lending, finance, or credit analysis, along with a basic understanding of financial statements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with close attention to detail and a consistent commitment to accuracy when reviewing financial and supporting information.
• Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and work both independently and collaboratively
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of Member and organizational information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, plus the ability to readily learn new technologies and systems while demonstrating a willingness to learn.

What We’d Love To See:

• Previous work experience in a customer service, office, banking, accounting, or finance-related environment.

Work Schedule:

• Working approximately 12-15 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer. Generally working variable hours between 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday based on class schedule.
• Must be able to work onsite at Royal Credit Union Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI throughout the school year and during breaks.
• This is a limited term, non-benefit eligible, position that will go from January 2027 through January 2028.
• Must be able to commit to the 12-month internship.

Training:

• Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out-of-town learners may be eligible for reimbursement of travel and lodging expenses, subject to Royal's travel and expense reimbursement guidelines.
• Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal’s culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
