Middle School Language Arts Teacher

Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Middle School Language Arts Teacher role located in Portage, MI. The teacher will plan, deliver, and assess engaging Language Arts instruction for middle school learners, aligned with school curriculum and faith-based values. Daily responsibilities include designing lessons, differentiating instruction, managing classroom routines, and providing timely feedback on student work. The teacher will collaborate with colleagues and administrators on curriculum planning, student support, and school initiatives, while maintaining regular communication with families regarding student progress and classroom activities. This position holds the 7th Grade Homeroom role. Additional duties may include participation in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and supervision of students during non‑classroom times. Qualifications Demonstrated experience working effectively with Middle School learners, understanding their developmental needs and learning styles. Strong Teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment. Subject‑area proficiency in Language Arts, including reading, writing, grammar, and literature instruction. Curriculum Development abilities to design, adapt, and implement standards‑aligned, rigorous, and engaging coursework. Excellent Communication skills for clear instruction, constructive feedback, and partnership with students, families, and colleagues. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; appropriate teaching certification required.
