Job Description Job Description: Paralegal at an Estate Planning and Administration Law Firm Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our law firm in downtown Charleston. The successful candidate will support our attorneys in managing and executing a variety of tasks related to estate planning, probate, and trust administration. This role requires strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. Key Responsibilities Client Communication: Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, answering questions, and ensuring a positive client experience. Case Management: Maintain and organize client files, track deadlines, and manage calendars to ensure timely completion of tasks. Court Filings: Prepare and file documents with the court, ensuring compliance with all procedural requirements. Trust Administration: Assist in the administration of trusts, including managing trust assets, distributions, and record-keeping. Probate Process: Support attorneys in probate cases by gathering necessary documents, preparing petitions, and coordinating with courts and beneficiaries. Qualifications Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field. Certification from an accredited paralegal program is preferred. Willing to consider experience in lieu of education. Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in estate planning, probate, or trust administration is preferred. Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills with high emphasis on meeting deadlines. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using legal software (Gems, Estate Val) and Microsoft Office Suite. Personal Attributes: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong work ethic and professional demeanor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to multi-task and perform on deadline.
