Role Overview

Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Director of Strategic Initiatives (DSI) serves as the agency’s internal strategic consultant. In this high-impact executive role, you will lead enterprise-wide initiatives, partner with cross-functional leadership, and oversee the Strategic Operations Department—including Quality Assurance and Research, Evaluation & Analysis teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Departmental Leadership: Lead, mentor, and build the Strategic Operations team. Manage department goals, budgets, and operational performance.

• Strategic Consulting: Partner with executive leadership to identify priorities, conduct organizational assessments, and evaluate market trends.

• Project & Change Execution: Lead complex enterprise projects from concept through rollout. Establish project governance tools, track metrics, and manage organizational change.

• Data & Performance Management: Oversee agency-wide KPIs, dashboards, and evaluation frameworks to drive evidence-based decision-making.

• Quality & Compliance Support: Guide risk mitigation, audit readiness, Medicaid compliance, and quality assurance workflows.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field (preferred).

• 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, project management, or management consulting, ideally within non-profits or healthcare.

• Proven track record leading cross-functional teams, change management, and supervising analytical staff.

• Expertise in data systems, performance metrics, continuous quality improvement, and executive reporting.

Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership & Management

• Lead the Strategic Operations Department, including Quality Assurance and Research, Evaluation & Analysis teams.

• Supervise, coach, and develop staff while establishing department goals, budgets, and resource allocation.

Strategic Planning & Project Execution

• Partner with the CSO and executive leadership to identify priorities and serve as an internal strategic consultant.

• Lead enterprise-wide initiatives from concept to rollout using project governance, project plans, and risk mitigation.

• Conduct organizational assessments and environmental scans to recommend operational improvements and growth strategies.

Change Management & Process Improvement

• Guide cross-functional teams through change with stakeholder engagement, communication plans, and workflow optimization.

• Collaborate with programs to map current vs. future states, improving service quality and operational efficiency.

Data Analytics & Performance Measurement

• Develop agency dashboards and KPIs to track progress against strategic goals and support data-driven decision-making.

• Prepare executive-level reports, presentations, and recommendations on performance and emerging risks.

Compliance & Risk Governance

• Support audit readiness, regulatory compliance, Medicaid oversight, quality assurance, and corrective action plans.
