Industrial Forklift Operator

Established in 1987, Triad Metals International is a privately held, independent company that has grown to become one of the premier distributors of structural steel, tubing, piling, and plate products. We are looking to hire a Forklift Operator to join our team in Petersburg, Virginia!

Successful Candidates will be expected to:

• Safely load and unload inbound and outbound materials, including H-Beam and sheet piling, using 15-ton (30,000 lb.) forklifts.
• Operate large sit-down forklifts to transport and position heavy materials throughout the facility, warehouse, and yard.
• Load and unload steel products from flatbed trucks.
• Maintain accurate material locations throughout the facility and yard.
• Verify and maintain heat numbers, material identification, and load documentation.
• Perform routine operator-level maintenance and daily inspections of forklifts and material-handling equipment.
• Identify equipment damage or potential mechanical issues and report them for maintenance or repair.
• Plan and optimize travel routes throughout the warehouse and yard to improve operational efficiency.
• Assist with inventory management and maintain accurate data collection to ensure inventory integrity.
• Follow all company and OSHA safety requirements and maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work environment.
• Perform basic housekeeping and ensure work areas are free of debris and other hazards.
• Follow established procedures for reporting material overages, shortages, and damages.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Required Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
• Proven experience as a large forklift operator
• Ability to operate both large and medium sized sit-down fork trucks with large loads.
• (Forklift Certification will be provided by trainer and is required of all warehouse employees)
• Strong attention to detail
• Basic mathematical skills
• Knowledge of industrial equipment and material handling practices.
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work effectively in an outdoor yard and industrial environment.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
