The Work You Will Do: DOT Intern – D4/District Four / Program Management This is an exciting opportunity for any college or university student who plans to pursue a career in the transportation engineering field. The preferred candidate will work on real-life projects in addition to being rotated throughout the Program Managementoffice while gaining experience in the following areas:

Final plans, specifications, estimates, and plans processing. The candidate will be introduced to Long Range Estimating (LRE) and Standard Specifications; System or Design Quantities & Estimates (DQE) and Designer Interface Program; AASHTO Preconstruction web-based system (estimates related function); Candidate will also shadow experienced Final Plans and managers employees to familiarize yourself with other internal District work units and illustrate how you fit in the overall production process. Where You Will Work: District Four / Program Management District 4 Headquarters 3400 West Commercial Boulevard Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33309 Annual Salary Range: $17.25 /hour (20 hours/week) Your Specific Responsibilities: Assist with performing plans and quality control review. Assist with performing cost estimates on construction projects. Assist with developing and preparing specification packages for in-house projects. Assist with ensuring compliance on Project Quality Control Plan (PQCP). Assist with pay item numbers, pay item requests, and resolving pay item issues on projects. Verify project information is correct and includes necessary pay items/quantities for a complete cost estimate. Assist project managers and designers during production with Digital Delivery procedures. Assist in developing and maintaining evaluations and tracking system for submittals. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: Microsoft office products (Word, Outlook, Excel) Skilled in: Communicating technical and non-technical information both verbally and in writing Planning, organizing, and managing multiple work assignments Ability to: Ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external teams Ability to manage competing demands and establish priorities Ability to possess flexibility, tact, and excellent interpersonal skills Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (prior to appointment) Actively enrolled in or accepted to an accredited university, college, or vocational/technical school for the duration of participation SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
