MORE ABOUT THE TECHNICIAN A ROLE: 

 

What will the Technician A do? 

The Technician A will support the team during the second shift by maintaining diesel equipment operations, completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments, and keeping records.  

 

What is the Technician A responsible for? 

1. Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. 
2. Provide assistance, guidance and direction to other maintenance personnel. 
3. Inspect the quality of outside/supplier repairs and or rebuilds.  Assess structural damage and assign needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s). 
4. Conduct safety checks on trucks. 
5. Perform maintenance related work as required. 
6. Estimate time and material costs on repairs. 
7. Maintains a clear line of communication to the Lead Mechanic/Foreman and other staff in the maintenance department as needed. 
8. Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance. 
9. Contains costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options. 
10. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. 
11. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications. 
12. Occasionally may perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. 
13. Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate/OSHA Standards and perform all work in accordance with established procedures.
