Summary:
Job Title: Head Custodian

Functions: The person who holds this position is a skilled employee who is directly involved in supervision of custodial workers. This person must understand the use of custodial cleaning aids and various machines used in custodial work. Also, this person can make and evaluate custodial work schedules and evaluate the performance of the custodial workers. This person will advise the Principal on matters relating to the custodial staff and its work.

Qualifications:

1. High school graduate or GED
2. Successful experience as a custodian or related work
3. The ability to direct and supervise the custodial staff
4. Have a working knowledge or approved method for use of custodial supplies and equipment
5. Have some understanding of the repair and maintenance of the building and its equipment

Reports To: This person is directly responsible to the Custodial Specialist or Plant Engineer

Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the custodial staff, assign work schedules, and evaluate the work of the staff
2. To make daily inspections of building and ground to ensure that both are clean, orderly and safe for students and staff
3. To be responsible for the opening and closing of the building and gates
4. To monitor the security system and make certain that it is in proper working order and used as directed
5. To make routine repairs to building and equipment
6. To have an understanding of the use of various soaps, chemicals, cleaning supplies and custodial equipment
7. To keep heat and air conditioning in working condition
8. To be responsible for ordering custodial supplies, equipment and for maintaining an inventory
9. To work with the custodial staff in their work as directed by the Custodial Specialist or Plant Engineer
10. To perform other duties as assigned by the Custodial Specialist or Plant Engineer

Other information:
Terms of Employment: Twelve Months with salary in Group D, Support/Hourly Salary Schedule.
