Title: Financial Services Associate | Location: St.Cloud, MN | Job Type: Contract-to-Hire | Compensation: $21 - $22.50/hr ($23-$24/hr upon conversion to a permanent position) | Industry: Financial Services
About the Role
We are seeking a Financial Services Associate on behalf of our client, a leading organization within the financial services industry. In this role, you will provide business-to-business customer support to financial advisors working within banks and credit unions. You will serve as a primary point of contact, helping advisors navigate systems, locate required paperwork, open accounts, answer general account-related questions, and resolve a variety of service needs. This is a fast-paced, phone-based position where strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills are more important than previous financial services experience. You will regularly work with the same financial professionals within an assigned region, allowing you to build relationships and become a trusted resource. Comprehensive training is provided, making this a great opportunity for someone with a strong customer service background who is interested in building a career in the financial services industry.
Job Description
- Provide phone-based, business-to-business support to financial advisors at banks and credit unions.
- Handle approximately 45 inbound calls per day, with calls averaging approximately 5-6 minutes.
- Assist financial professionals with navigating internal systems and platforms.
- Provide support with account opening, required forms and documentation, brokerage operations, advisory accounts, transfers, dividend distributions, and other account-related needs.
- Answer questions related to IRAs, stocks, accounts, and general financial services processes using available resources and procedures.
- Identify inquiries requiring specialized assistance and appropriately transfer calls to departments such as annuities, trading, or other specialized teams.
- Build strong working relationships and rapport with financial professionals within an assigned region.
- Research questions and provide accurate, timely information to callers.
- Handle complex or escalated service issues professionally and efficiently.
- Document client interactions accurately using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Meet established call-handling, quality, and scheduling expectations.
- Work independently to resolve inquiries while collaborating with teammates and other departments when needed.
- Participate in departmental projects and additional assignments as needed.
- Provide process or system-navigation support to others as knowledge and experience grow.
- Participate in approximately six weeks of hands-on training with members of the support center team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to communicate professionally and confidently over the phone.
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and follow‑up skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing accurate information.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and financial services concepts.
- Ability to accept and apply coaching and feedback.
- Professional, courteous, and service‑oriented approach when assisting clients.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of call center or high-volume phone-based customer service experience.
- 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- Previous banking, financial services, or related industry experience.
- Experience using CRM or customer service software.
- Experience resolving customer concerns or handling escalated inquiries.
- Familiarity with brokerage, investment, banking, or retirement account concepts.
- Previous financial services experience is not required.
- Candidates with backgrounds in call centers, hospitality, restaurants, retail, or other high-volume customer service environments are encouraged to apply.
