Certified Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Assistance Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and the performance of other pharmacy department duties in accordance with state, federal regulations and company policies. Uses pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and processes prescriptions. If PTCB certified, coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers. Customer Experience Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience. Models and shares best customer service practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers. Operations Under pharmaceutical supervision, assists in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company policy, and reviews the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct. Performs duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, and managing workflow. Reports prescription errors promptly to the pharmacist and follows Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program. Adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all applicable prescription dispensing activities. Registers all sales, handles cash, and assists customers in locating OTC products. Handles telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls. Processes manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner. Supports inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceuticals, and filing claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods. Assists in admin of clinical services, including sample collection, labeling, and coordination with clinics and external providers. Develops relationships with local medical community through outreach and detailing. Maintains departmental cleanliness, supply stocking, and overall appearance. Complies with all company policies, maintains respectful coworker relationships, and completes special assignments as directed. Training & Personal Development Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program or state-required certification. Attends training and completes required PPLs, acquiring continuing education credits, and stays current with healthcare and pharmacy developments. Basic Qualifications Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment. Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens. Prefer strong math skills for accurate prescription filling. Prefer good computer skills. Prefer knowledge of store inventory control. Prefer PTCB certification. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
