Production Supervisor

Essential Functions The Production Supervisor is responsible for the safety and productivity of all production employees staffed on designated shift. Additionally, this position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality and safety parameters. Setup, instruct and maintain the workflow for the production floor. Responsible for staff scheduling to include work assignments, training, vacations, breaks, and overtime assignments. Drive overall production performance and compliance with quality standards while making decisions regarding workflow to ensure daily operational objectives are met. Performs evaluations of employee work proficiency, attendance, and adherence to company work rules and policies. Communicate and coordinate with other supervisors/managers. Check and inspect quality of output in respective department. Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment, identify and ensure all employees have and are using protective PPE, and work with the production manager to identify potential safety hazards. Train and assist with the professional development of production floor employees. Operate equipment/machines as needed. Develop and maintain a team of safe, motivated, productive, and positive attitude employees through training, coaching, counseling, and taking appropriate corrective action to meet production goals. Recognize and identify problem areas and assist with developing solutions. Supervises production processes while working with the Production Manager to define and resolve problems, as well as continuous improvement recommendations. Identifies and suggests improvements through the appropriate channels. Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies. Respond to injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions immediately and escalates according to company protocol. Perform other and/or related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. Experience Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience and 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or machining. Skills And Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 2 years’ experience in related field preferred; Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred. This position is responsible for supervision, providing direction and training, and overall performance management of production personnel. Able to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications. Ability to implement and adjust to changes without compromising Quality or Performance. Manufacturing and production experience and knowledge of industry standards. Lead and coach with clear communication. Ability to build relationships and collaborate across departments. High conflict resolution capabilities. Intermediate level computer skills to include MS Outlook and Excel; experience with Epicor system preferable. Must be able to work a shift schedule and weekends or on-call as needed. Physical Demands Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift. Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, saws, and trucks. Able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs repetitively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift, and hammer. Continuous mental and visual attention in cleaning. Diversified duties requiring constant alertness or activity. Employee is regularly required to sit for long periods; stand; talk and hear both in person and by telephone; and use hands to handle and operate office equipment. Employee is occasionally required to walk, climb, stoop or bend and lift to twenty-five pounds. Must be able to detect product issues visually. Work Environment Manufacturing environment with multi‑step process production runs on different machines. Highly customized components and high‑precision manufacturing for critical service applications.
