Job Description

This role offers hands-on experience across multiple metal fabrication departments, including paint line, laser cutting, deburring and grinding, and basic assembly. Specifically hiring for a candidate to load and unload laser cutting machines and stack parts Will be working with hand and power tools to prepare, finish, and assemble metal parts. The position is physical and fast-paced, and it provides strong training opportunities for those interested in growing within fabrication and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Handle sheets of laser-cut steel, remove cut pieces using hand tools, and perform visual inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards before moving them to the next stage.
• Deburr and polish metal parts using deburring tools and polishers to smooth edges and prepare surfaces for further processing.
• Perform a high volume of hand sanding and other manual preparation tasks on parts in the warm paint line area.
• Assemble finished parts using hand and power tools, following instructions to put components together accurately and efficiently.
• Follow training and instructions in each department, learning and performing tasks in laser cutting, deburring, grinding, paint line, and assembly as needed.
• Remain flexible and willing to move between departments and roles based on production needs across the plant.
• Work safely by following all safety procedures, using tools and equipment correctly, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers, and support a positive, team-oriented work culture.
• Consistently lift, carry, and move materials and parts weighing up to 40 pounds throughout the shift.

Essential Skills

• Ability to consistently lift up to 40 pounds and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• At least 6 months of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and flexibility to learn new tasks and rotate between different departments and roles.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools for tasks such as sanding, grinding, deburring, and assembly.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others in a production environment.
• Reliability, including consistent attendance and the ability to follow instructions and training.
• Comfort working in a warm environment, particularly in the paint line area.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, 1st or 2nd-shift position.

There is regular machine noise, but it is not excessively loud. The workspace reflects standard metal fabrication conditions, with some dirt and dust, though overall it is reasonably maintained. You will regularly use hand tools, power tools, deburring and polishing equipment, and work around laser cutting and other fabrication machinery. Appropriate work attire suitable for a metal fabrication floor is expected, with adherence to all safety and personal protective equipment requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Batavia, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Batavia,IL.
