Role This is a part-time (up to 16 hours per week) position as a Peer Support Specialist for adults with serious mental illness. Under the guidance of the lead clinician, a peer support specialist shares their own recovery experience and provides supportive community services such as assisting and teaching a consumer to obtain housing, employment, medical care, transportation, recreation, financial benefits and other available entitlements; assist consumers in accessing community resources; and provide education on recovery from mental illness and possibly substance use. Peer support specialists advocate for and enhance acceptance of individuals with mental illness in the workplace, family and community. Services are primarily provided with consumers in their homes and in the community. Peer Support Specialists work in office, home and community settings. Peer Support Specialists work under the supervision of the Mental Health Program Director and Program Coordinator.
