Performs work of routine difficulty in general custodial work in county buildings and serving as a lead worker to custodians; performs related work as required.

PART TIME employees are limited to no more than 1000 hours in a calendar year. This position will generally work half days Monday-Friday.
Examples of Duties


- Participates in the work of and serves as a team or site lead to a crew of custodians


- Handles day-to-day routine work problems and service issues


- Responds to emergency custodial situations as necessary


- Keeps supervisor informed off problems, emergencies, safety issues and general operations


- Empties trash containers; disposes of trash and recyclables; dusts and polishes furniture, shelves and counter tops


- Wet and dry mops floors; vacuums mats and carpets, and spot cleans carpeted areas


- Cleans and disinfects restrooms and fixtures, and replenishes supplies


- Maintains custodial supply area in a clean and orderly manner; reports supply and equipment needed

Required Qualifications


High school diploma or GED; one year of experience in custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Possess a valid driver's license.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :


Working knowledge of cleaning methods, tools and equipment used in custodial work. Ability to operate custodial tools and equipment; to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications


One or more years experience as a custodian/housekeeper in a business environment.
